Hop on the Jurassic Coaster – The Jurassic Coast Bus

There are 5 buses servicing this route. The X53 in particular allows you to enjoy some of the most spectacular views of the Jurassic Coast. The Jurassic Coaster services are operated by First Bus.

The bus services change fairly often so the best thing is to look at the First Bus website.

For general timetable or service enquiries, please go to www.travelinesw.com or call 0871 200 2233.

Please note that the majority of the buses used on these routes are double-deckers with low access for wheelchair users and buggies, however, some services may be single decker.

The Jurassic Coaster is ideal for walkers who want to walk a section of the South West Coast Path as it gives the option of traveling either out or back by bus. Find out more about walking on the Jurassic Coast.

First Bus no longer run a service between Lyme Regis and Exeter. However, there is still a service. AVMT Buses run Service 885 (Axminster to Beer via Seaton), 52 (Seaton to Exeter via Beer) & 899 (Seaton to Sidmouth via Beer & Branscombe).

These services serve some of the most popular towns, villages & attractions on the East Devon coast. They are also very scenic bus routes with great views of the picturesque countryside. Walkers regularly travel with AVMT as it is possible to walk one way & catch the bus back.

When do the buses run in the summer?
From May 29th to September 26th 2021. Please check timetables for days and times.

Top

Where do I get a bus timetable?
All the coastal bus timetable are available to download and print off this website. Simply click on ‘Timetables’ in the public transport section. If you would like a timetable leaflet sent to you in the post please e-mail: [email protected]

Top

How do I walk the coast path without a car?
Easy! Catch a train, coach or ferry into Pembrokeshire and then use the buses to get around. The beauty of using the coastal buses is that you can walk the coast path in one direction without having to worry about collecting a car at the end of the day. By using the buses to travel up and down the coast it also means you can stay in your accommodation for more nights. See the ‘Coast Path’ section for itinerary ideas.

Top

Can I bring my dog on the bus?
Yes, your dog is welcome on the bus (at the drivers discretion) providing they are clean, kept on a lead and sit on the floor out of the way of other passengers. All we ask is that you be a responsible owner and clean up after your little friend - leave only paw prints behind!

Top

How much do the buses cost?
It is difficult to give you an exact fare as the coastal buses are registered local services, with fares structured accordingly. If you would like to know the cost please ring the bus operator directly, contact details are shown on the timetables.

All Wales Bus Pass holders travel free on the coastal buses - simply show your pass to the driver.

If you are using lots of buses in one day the WEST WALES ROVER TICKET is good value and is valid for all day travel. Adults £8.50, Children £4.50. Adult Weekly £34, Children Weekly £16. If you are planning to come to Pembrokeshire by public transport look into the WALES FLEXI PASS, which is accepted on all coastal buses.

Top

Can I bring my bike on the bus?
Unfortunately the buses are unable to carry bikes due to current legislation. Don’t forget you can carry bikes on trains: 2x bikes on the Transport For Wales and 6x bikes on the First Great Western Trains.

Top

Where do I catch the bus?
The buses run to a timetable, which describes where the bus stops are located. In towns you catch the bus at a recognised bus stop, but once you get into the countryside the buses operate on a 'Hail and Ride' basis, which means you don't have to find a bus stop to catch the bus. Simply join the road and flag the bus down as it passes you.

Top

How will I know where to get off the bus?
Our local drivers are very knowledgeable about the area and will help you locate walking drop-off and pick-up points, find your destination or recommend one!

Top

We are a big group, can we book a bus?
If you are a group of 8+ people wishing to use the coastal buses then please contact the appropriate bus operator in advance of travel to discuss your travel plans (Mon-Fri, during office hours). The bus operator number is listed on the bus timetable.

Coast to Valley Express Bus Schedule

The Coast to Valley Express, a service provided through a partnership between Lincoln County Transit and Benton County Transportation, will be resumed by Lincoln County on Sunday, June 7th and by Benton County Transportation on Monday, June 8.

The Coast to Valley Express service will follow a new schedule, adding a stop in North Albany at the Park n’ Ride, and will operate seven days a week with four daily runs between Albany, Corvallis and Newport.

Extra Precautions are being made by both agencies to keep our drivers and passengers safe. In accordance with guidance issued by the Oregon Health authority, all passengers will be required to wear a face covering while onboard buses and to sit spaced no closer than three feet from other passengers and six feet from the driver.

Although we are resuming service at this time, please remember to keep yourself and others safe by washing your hands regularly, covering your cough/sneeze with a tissue or your elbow, practicing social distancing, and by staying home if you feel unwell.

The Coast to Valley Express connects Corvallis and Newport—and communities in between—Albany, Toledo, Eddyville, and Philomath.

From Albany, you can take the train to Portland; from Corvallis take the HUT to PDX Airport.

In Newport, take the bus to destinations on the coast from Yachats to Astoria.

The Coast To Valley Express provides daily connections to the Amtrak Cascades train service at Albany Station. Click here for more information.

Coastal Buses

Pembrokeshire Coastal Bus Services are local bus services that travel along the coast to access walks, beaches, boat trips, local villages and attractions.

They help locals and visitors get to the coast without having to use a car. You can use the coastal buses for both ‘out’ and ‘back’ journeys or simply use the bus for your outward journey and walk back to your destination.

This enables you to walk the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in one direction without having to retrace your steps.

All coastal buses operate on a ‘Hail and Ride’ basis in rural areas, so all you have to do is signal to the driver to stop. Passengers can be picked up or set down at any point along the bus route – providing it is safe to do so.
