Important Notes

Content
Updated Content for Revit 2021.1 is not included in the patch deliverable and is provided on the Autodesk Knowledge Network, link.
Update installation may fail if the original Content path location is not accessible.
Install
After applying the hotfix, Generative Design command may cause a “RestDynamoCore.exe – This application could not be started” errors. A reboot of the system should resolve the errors.
In some scenarios the original RVT.msi may be required to install the hotfix. If you are prompted for to specify the RVT.msi version and do not have access to the original installation files you may download the RVT.msi as follows. There are several unique Revit 2021 full product installers which have been released and each includes a unique version of the RVT.msi file. The following is the simplest way to identify which full product installer was used to install Revit 2021 on a workstation:
1. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
2. Browse to and select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAutodeskUPI2{7346B4A0-2100-0510-0000-705C0D862004} registry key in the left column.
3. In the right column, make note of the BuildNumber value.

If the BuildNumber is 21.0.0.383, then the installation used the initial Revit 2021 full product installer and the required RVT.msi is available here: link

If the BuildNumber is 21.1.1.109, then the installation used the Revit 2021.1 full product installer and the required RVT.msi is available here: link

If the BuildNumber is 21.1.11.27, then the installation used the Revit 2021.1.1 full product installer and the required RVT.msi is available here: link

Uninstall
Revit 2021 updates can be uninstalled to revert Autodesk Revit 2021 to its pre-update state.
Uninstalling this update after being applied to a Revit 2021.1 installation may require the original installation media to complete without error.
Uninstalling this update after being applied to a Revit 2021.1 installation may cause the Revit version displayed in Windows>Add/Remove Programs to be blank.

2019 update revit

Revit 2019.2 update released

Introduction

Every year Autodesk release a new version of Revit around March/April. Thereafter periodic updates or point releases are released. These fix errors in the software and also add new features to the software. Revit 2019 was released in April 2018 and in August Revit 2019.1 was released with a new Revit Home screens and other useful features. The Home screen caters for opening project files from your BIM360 hub as shown below.

Some new and improved features were also added as requested by users via the Revit Ideas Forum. Users would vote for posted Ideas and these get added to future releases. Here’s a link to the Revit Ideas forum. You are welcome to sign into the site and vote for useful ideas: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/idb-p/302

Here is a link to the new features of 2019.1 https://www.autodesk.com/products/revit/new-features

In January this year 2019.2 was released.

So what is in the release?

Besides bug fixes, a new Cloud Model feature has been added whereby you can upload your non-workshared models to BIM360. This is mainly for a project that you don’t need to collaborate with other Revit disciplines but need the data on the cloud for downstream usage by the Contractor for instance.

Another useful feature is that you now can zoom into a Schedule view holding the Control Key and scrolling with the mouse. This was needed for schedules with many columns and you need to view it a whole instead of scrolling left and right all the time.

The official Autodesk blog on these and other new features of 2019.2 are found here: http://blogs.autodesk.com/revit/2019/01/16/revit-2019-2-new-features-connect-data-cloud-and-customers/

There are also some Mechanical fabrication model creation features added with 2019.2. One feature that stands out for me is that you now can draw ducts and pipes in Section View and they are drawn correctly in the same plane as that of the section line.

In-depth detail on the Mechanical features can be found in this blog by Martin Schmid: http://blogs.autodesk.com/revit/2019/01/15/mechanical-fabrication-model-creation-improvements-for-revit-2019-2/

Where and How do I get the update?

So if you forgot to install update 2019.1 updates you can skip it altogether and only download and install 2019.2 which includes all of 2019.1.

The only way to download and install the 2019.2 update is via the Autodesk Desktop App. This app is installed when Revit is installed so you can access it like any other program via the Windows start button. If you don’t have it installed you can download the Autodesk Desktop App at:  https://www.autodesk.com/desktop-app

Once you have opened the app and clicked the ‘Get started’ button select the R for Revit symbol on the left as shown below.

Then look for the Revit 2019.2 update and click the Update button.

Just make sure Revit is closed and wait for the update to download and install. It’s a 650mb download so it might take a while.

And that’s it. You have installed the Revit 2019.2 update and its new features will be available next time you start Revit 2019.

To double check if the service pack 2019.2 has been installed correctly you can open up Revit 2019. Open up a project and click on the Help down arrow then on ‘About’ and have a look at the version number. See below.

Conclusion

The 2019.1 and 2019.2 updates are packed with new and improved features and should be well received by the building community. I am particularly happy to see lots of user-driven features get built into Revit.
