[Walmart] Quick Draw Portable Sun Shelter - clearance $30 (reg. $58)
Description & Features:
The Quick Draw integrates a dual-string, top-pull hub allowing for ultra quick set up and take down. Do not let the compactness fool you though, this shelter still has plenty of room for all your essentials including two beach chairs. The Quick Draw also comes standard with two large rounded mesh windows for side-to-side viewing and a moderate overhang for added protection from the sun as well as three sand pockets, interior gear pockets, guy lines, stakes, and oversized bag.
It says the brand is Ventura, but when I Googled it I came across this video for a "Lightspeed" Quick Draw shelter - looks almost identical, so I'm assuming the set-up and take-down is probably the same idea.
Nearby Walmart locations:

A couple of weeks ago we were able to escape the desert heat for the beautiful beaches of Oceanside, California. Oceanside is just under a three-hour drive from our home but man is it a world away. We are 100% a beach family. This tour in Twentynine Palms is the first time we’ve lived away from the beach in nine years. Having an opportunity to cruise over to the beach for four days really filled all of our cups. Now that the girls are a bit older, my beach day essentials have changed since they were toddlers. I can load up our car with everything we need including lunches, snacks, and drinks, and we can spend the whole day at the beach. It’s wonderful!
Last summer we went to the beach with the bare minimum, just ourselves and a couple of towels. It was an insanely hot day and we were all miserable. I vowed, that day, to always come to the beach prepared from here on out. It’s a bit of work planning a beach trip, gathering the supplies, and hauling it down to the beach, but once you’re lounging at the beach for the day, it is all worth it.
For my beach essentials, I turned to the ever-reliable Walmart.com. I have a Walmart+ membership which is great for last-minute items on your list because with the membership, you get free shipping from Walmart.com with no order minimum. Excludes freight & Marketplace items.
Some otherWalmart+ membership benefits I love (some restrictions apply):
Free delivery from your store with a $35 minimum. Get groceries and more delivered to your door with the same everyday low prices as in-store (restrictions apply).
Mobile scan & go Scan while you shop for an easy, contactless check-out in the stores. Scan, pay, & be on your way.
Member prices on Fuel at Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Murphy’s fuel stations. Fill up and save 5 cents a gallon.
Sun Hat | I’m all about getting as much sun protection as possible and look stylish while doing it. I love this trendy woven sun hat. It’s less than $15, completely foldable/packable which makes it a great beach accessory.
Hard Side Cooler | We have this hard side cooler and a smaller soft cooler that I love for different reasons, when we’re headed to the beach I almost always grab this one. I love the zippered top and it’s so spacious.
Insulated Tote Bag | In addition to the cooler, I like this insulated beach bag. You can bring drinks and snacks without worry. Also, it makes for a great wet bag for bathing suits to carry home since its lining is waterproof. Double use!
Ball and Disk Game | This little game is just a few dollars but it’s hours of entertainment. Everyone in my family loves this game. It’s simple enough for the girls to enjoy and you can get super competitive with it which makes it very fun for Matt and me.
Bluetooth Speaker | I got this speaker right before we left for our trip. I wanted something I could bring down the beach so we could listen to tunes throughout the day. This speaker exceeded my expectations. Not only was the sound great, but the battery life was awesome. I didn’t have to charge it the whole trip.
Beach Chairs | A beach trip isn’t complete without a pair of comfy beach chairs. These are just that but they also come in really pretty colors!
C’est Moi Sunscreen | My holy grail of sunscreen! It’s reef safe which is important to me. If you have any melanin in your skin at all, I highly recommend this sunscreen. It’s mineral-based but doesn’t leave your skin with that white cast that so many other sunscreens do. I also love the face stick version of this sunscreen.
Sandals | You can’t beat $6 sandals as beach shoes and they come in several pretty colors.
Beach Shelter | I mentioned above about the super hot beach day that we did not properly prepare for. After that beach trip, I immediately went home and ordered this shelter. It’s easy to set up and takedown, and most importantly we can all fit in it comfortably.
Beach Towels | I cannot believe what a great deal these towels are. Just $20 for a set of four beach towels is an excellent price. I love the cabana stripes – so classic for beach or pool.
If you haven’t yet tried out the Walmart+ membership, now is a great time! Have you found your way to a beach or lake at all this summer? What are some of your must-haves for a successful beach trip?
The 10 Best Beach Tents of 2021
Lightweight, easy to pop up, and extremely spacious, the Pacific Breeze Easy Setup Beach Tent is the clear winner when it comes to what to bring for a day at the beach. It also is designed with UPF 50+ sun protection, so you’re kept safe from UV rays while you’re cooling down underneath its shelter.
While basic nylon can be flimsy and tear after a bit of roughhousing, there are plenty of durable synthetic materials these days that will help your tent withstand a few beach seasons. Look for material like Polyguard for prime durability, and see if the fabric you’re looking at offers protection from water and sun, too.
Think about how much you want to spend on a tent—typically, the more features, the more expensive they are. At the very least, most beach tents come with a few interior pockets to hold all your essentials for a day at the beach, whether they be zippered or simple slip pockets. Other features to keep an eye on include zippered windows to allow a cross-breeze and a drying line for wet towels and swimsuits.
Consider both the overall footprint of the tent as well as the height. Larger tents allow more space to maneuver, but smaller tents may be sufficient as a kid-friendly refuge if that’s what you’re after.
Setup and portability
Some beach tents can be assembled quickly by one person, while others take more time (and coordination) to get it right. Most collapse into a tight package for easy portability, but if you’re facing longer walks, some models may prove easier to carry than others.
Are beach tents waterproof?
Not all beach tents are waterproof. While many of them are made from nylon and other synthetic fibers, they might not keep out rain or particularly erratic spray from nearby waves. Try to purchase one that's labeled as waterproof; otherwise, you can check the manufacturer's guide to see if you can DIY the waterproofing yourself with a bit of spray.
How do I anchor my tent on the beach?
Some tents come with stakes so that you can anchor them to the beach, but if the ground is a little too sandy (or, maybe, not sandy enough), place rocks or some of your gear in the corners of the tent to help anchor it down. While stakes are definitely the best choice for beaches that have the breeze rolling in, you’ll likely be okay with some weight in the corners on calmer days.
Do beach tents have sun protection?
While any barrier between you and the sun’s rays will help reduce sun damage, only some tents come with UPF protection built in; others are mostly nylon, though they still offer much-needed shade. Look for tents with a UPF of 50+ to really help protect you on a hot summer day at the beach.
