How to enter the Unlock Code on your phone

A quick guide about entering a network unlock code on your phone if it’s not automatically requested

Most phones display the message “SIM Network Unlock PIN” or “Enter network lock control key” when a SIM from another network, different from the original network provider, is being inserted into the phone. And there is also a designated field where to enter the code.

But sometimes this message is not being displayed. Instead, your phone can show simply the message “Network Lock” or “Network unavailable” or “Insert correct SIM” with no field where to enter the code. In the eventuality of your phone not asking for the network unlock code, there are some methods that can be used in order to make the “SIM Network Unlock PIN” message to be displayed.

Unlocking your Samsung

There are three methods for entering unlock codes on Samsung mobile phones.

The first thing to do is to turn the phone on with a non-accepted SIM card. If the phone requests a network unlock code or Network SIM Unlock PIN, then use Method 1. If it doesn’t, then try both Method 2 and Method 3.

Method 1 (Most Newer Samsung Handsets)

1. Turn on the device with a non accepted SIM card.
2. Enter the unfreeze code we sent you and press OK/Confirm (don’t worry if the phone says it’s incorrect, as it is still required).
3. Enter the network unlock code we sent you and press OK/Confirm.
4. The Unlock is complete and your phone will now be unlocked.

Method 2 (Some Older Samsung Handsets)

1. Turn on the phone with a non accepted SIM card inserted.
2. Type #7465625*638*CODE# replacing CODE with your network unlock code (provided by email). If you were emailed a service provider unlock code (if you are locked to a virtual network) then you may also need to enter #7465625*77*Code# replacing CODE with your service provider unlock code.
3. The Unlock is complete and your phone will now be unlocked.

Method 3 (Some Older Samsung Handsets)

1. Turn on the phone with a non accepted SIM card inserted.
2. Type #0111*CODE# replacing CODE with your network unlock code If you were emailed a service provider unlock code (if you are locked to a virtual network) then you may also need to enter #0133*CODE# replacing CODE with your service provider unlock code.
3. The Unlock is complete and your phone will now be unlocked.

Abbreviations:

1. NCK = Network Control Key/ Network Unlock Code
2. MCK = Unfreeze Code
3. SPCK = Service provider code key

If you receive your codes in the below format, then the Defreeze is your MCK (Unfreeze code) and the Network is your NCK (Network unlock code).

NETWORK=45212401 PROVIDER=38101446 SUBPROVIDER=96155715 DEFREEZE=49509141 EXTRA=07069426

Troubleshoot your unlocking process for Samsung phones

While completing the unlock process, you may see some error messages on your phone screen, that restricts you to unlock your Samsung phone successfully. Some of the general error messages you may see are:

  • Failed to request
  • Unlock code request unsuccessful
  • Failed to unlock network
  • Your attempt failed

The causes of these errors are:

#1 You or the previous owner of the mobile devices might have entered too many incorrect codes. This situation is also known as “Phone Freeze.

#2 The mobile device does not run on an original ROM or the ROM installed in your mobile or tablet is a customized one. The provided unlock code will only work if the ROM installed in the device is original.

#3 The code you entered is wrong. This may happen if you entered an incorrect digit or missed a number from the code. In this case, recheck the code you have and match it carefully with the one you entered in your phone. If both the codes are same, contact the cell phone company who provided you with the code. They may have given you the wrong code. Although this situation is rare, it can happen.

Phone Freeze Scenario
To rectify this error, you require two codes. The first one is the Network Unlock code, also known as NCK Code and UNFREEZE or DEFREEZE key, also known as the MCK key.

Remember, to keep your phone safe and bug-free, before starting any process switch off your device correctly. Now replace your old SIM card with the new SIM card, switch on the device and enter the PIN in the device.

When you see the “Phone Freeze” message, enter the UNFREEZE or DEFREEZE code and confirm by pressing “#” or “OK” or “Call” button.

Do not worry if you see the phone screen to be blank. This is normal, and your phone has no technical faults. You keep on typing the code blindly.

Another way of doing this is when your device shows “Phone Freeze” error, enter “#7465625*638*UNFREEZECODE#” (without the quotes) and insert MCK code provided to you by replacing the UNFREEZE CODE.

If you are still facing issues, enter the NCK code, press OK button and confirm. Then enter the MCK code, again press OK button and confirm. Now enter the Unlock Code carefully, your device will be unlocked.

Before you start using the phone, do not forget to reboot the device.

Unlocking a non-original ROM Device

If you have a device that works on a non-original ROM, before getting your unlock code from the supplier, you need to reflash you Samsung mobile by using an authentic Android Platform. Once you replace the non-original ROM with an original setup, search for you unlock code and follow the steps mentioned above.
